No matter how many times I pull through,
breathing easy on occasion as I do what I do
I see that these lives of ours turn on a dime
and good god almighty, it’s just a matter of time
I’ve occasion to marvel, at how well we cope
day after day with some fragments of hope
by the skin of our teeth, at the end of our rope
You’d think we’d all snap
but, mostly, we don’t
It’s astonishing and puzzling
and admirable, I’d say,
May we not complicate tomorrow
May we live for this day
